County residents to be offered prescription discounts

 It is not an insurance. The program is sponsored by the National Association of Counties. NACo developed a relationship with Caremark PCS Health, L.P., and put together the program, in which cards are offered to local residents, free of charge. The cards allow the resident to purchase prescription drugs at participating pharmacies at discount prices. The discounts are for as much as 22%. There are no enrollment forms and no age or income requirements. There are currently nine participating pharmacies in the program. The County Human Resources and Risk Management Department will be working on ways to distribute the special cards to all County residents who want one. The Supervisors, saying there was no downside to the program, unanimously agreed to direct Interim Human Resources Director Rodolfo Aguayo to contract the NACo program and distribute the cards in Imperial County.
